Eight years after his last solo album, Refpolk releases the EP „Alles still“. The rapper and activist was anything but quiet during this time, however, but much on the road, especially between Berlin and Athens, played with his crew LMF at festivals and demos and was part of building the international hip-hop network In.Flammen.
Now he reports back as a solo artist: „Alles still“ is an EP that can almost be called an album, between classic tick rap, boombap beats, oppressive synths, combative announcements and a pinch of sarcasm. And it’s a release that especially knows how to impress when the political meets the personal, Refpolk raps about doubt and powerlessness, and his vulnerability becomes palpable.
And so „Alles still“ tells of Refpolk as rapper, activist and human being and at the same time locates itself in a larger context. The EP ties in with leftist movement history, takes place as part of current political protests and struggles, and yet always leaves room for our personal fears, doubts and hopes in all of this.
