1871-2021 – long live the Commune! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
150 years ago the people of Paris built the Commune, the first attempt to put socialism, council democracy and revolutionary emancipation into practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Commune, not only those who governed it, but through those who defended it, set up an ideal for the future superior to all previous revolutions, a new society in which no one is master on the basis of birth, title or fortune, and no one is a servant on the basis of origin, caste or wages. Everywhere the word \u201ccommune\u201d was understood in the most comprehensive sense imaginable, as the name for a new humanity, consisting of free and equal companions who pay no attention at all to the existence of old frontiers and who help each other in peace from one end of the world to the other.\u201d<\/em> (\u00c9lis\u00e9e Reclus)<\/p>\n\n\n\n To commemorate and honour the Paris Commune, we have two new Fire and Flames designs, “1871” and “Vive la Commune”, and also a fine selection of literature on the subject in our shop<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In May, we will release the mini-album Communardes Communards<\/em> by the Parisian dub militant Dubamix. The 12″\/CD with many international guests includes four songs in commemoration of the commune, among others La Semaine Sanglante<\/em>, a classic revolutionary song about the bloody suppression of the revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
